Gazprom to make settlement offer in antitrust case
Russian gas giant accused of using its market power to overcharge European governments and companies.
Russian gas giant Gazprom will make a settlement offer to resolve a European Commission antitrust case, the company said after a meeting today with European Commissioner for Competition Margrethe Vestager.
“We are now putting the final touch to our commitment proposal. It will be sent to the European Commission shortly,” said Alexander Medvedev, Gazprom’s deputy chairman.
The Russian delegation included the country’s deputy energy minister Anatoly Yanovsky.
Vestager charged Gazprom with breaching EU antitrust rules in April 2015, accusing the Russian gas giant, which is the only supplier of natural gas into some European countries, of using its market power to bully and overcharge European governments and companies.
