Carl's Jr. 'Pot' Burger Debuting In Denver On 4/20

DENVER, CO — Denver is known nationwide for many things, but perhaps none more ubiquitously than marijuana. As such, it’s no surprise that fast food chain Carl’s Jr. chose one location in the northeastern part of the city to debut its new CBD-infused burger on April 20.

In other words, those dudes at Carl’s, yo, are frying us up some pot burgers.

Cause your munchies and satisfy them at the same time.

The double-cheeseburger, dubbed the Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight, comes with the chain’s “Santa Fe Sauce,” which is infused with hemp-based CBD oil, pickled jalapeños, pepper jack cheese and “Crisscut” fries. The result is a burger with extra crunch for your munchies.

“The new Rocky Mountain High: CheeseBurger Delight ties back to our core strategy of being the first to bring bold and unexpected flavors that are at the forefront of hot restaurant trends to a quick service menu,” Patty Trevino, senior vice president of brand marketing at Carl’s Jr., said in a release.

You can buy the burger Saturday at the Carl’s Jr. restaurant located at 4050 Colorado Blvd. beginning at 6 a.m. The price is, of course, $4.20.

Trevino said the chain was “thrilled” to be the first fast food chain to test CBD-infused options. The hemp-derived CBD oil comes from Colorado-based Bluebird Botanicals.

It should be noted that scientists have been studying the effects of cannabidiol, or CBD. The federal Centers for Disease Control said the chemical “doesn’t make you high” because it acts on different parts of the nervous system than THC, one of the chemicals found in marijuana plants that does make you feel high.

Scientists think CBD oil could have benefits, particularly for children who get seizures that can’t be controlled with other medicines.
