Jake Patterson, 21, To Be Charged With 2 Homicides, Kidnapping

BARRON COUNTY, WI — After 87 days missing and considered endangered, missing Wisconsin teen Jayme Closs was miraculously found after she approached a dog walker on the street in the tiny town of Gordon, Wisconsin.

Minutes after her rescue, authorities arrested Jake Thomas Patterson, 21, in connection with her abduction and the shooting death of her parents on Oct. 15.

Patterson, the 21-year-old Wisconsin residents that authorities say is the man responsible for the abduction of 13-year-old Jayme and the shooting deaths of her parents.

Patterson has been charged with two counts of first-degree intentional homicide, and one count of kidnapping related to the Oct. 15 incident.

He will appear in court Monday afternoon for his initial appearance, authorities said.

Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said they’ve recovered more than one gun at the residence, including one that resembled the one used at the scene the night Jayme’s parents were shot and killed.

“We will have to wait for confirmation,” Fitzgerald said.

Investigators are trying to figure out how Patterson made contact with Jayme. Fitzgerald said Patterson had changed his physical appearance, shaved his head to avoid leaving DNA behind.

“I know all of you are searching for the reason why any of this happened,” Fitzgerald said. “Believe me, so are we.”

Authorities are conducting a search warrant at Patterson’s residence in Gordon and will be there throughout the evening, Fitzgerald said Friday afternoon.
