Teens Accused Of Stealing Small Aircraft In Utah
Authorities in Utah have arrested two teenagers accused of stealing a small aircraft on Thanksgiving Day.
The Uintah County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release that the two teen boys were arrested near the Vernal Regional Airport after landing a small plane that authorities allege was stolen from a private airstrip in Jensen.
Authorities say the boys left a group home in Wasatch Front and were staying with friends in the Jensen area.
The teens gained access to a tractor Thursday morning and drove it to the air strip in Jensen, the sheriff’s office said. The teens are accused of stealing a fixed-wing, single engine light sport aircraft.
Authorities say the teens mentioned flying back to Wasatch Front but decided not to and landed at the airport in Vernal, according to information obtained by investigators.
The teens are being held at a youth detention center on multiple charges.
