Russia and Puerto Rico beating their rivals

According to expectations, Russia won in three sets, but they may not be completely happy of their performance. Australia played just one set, Puerto Rico was too strong for this team.

We could not expect big emotions in this match. Russia has made clear from the beginning (8:2 on the first technical time out.) Then just finished the execution in the first set. Later, Cameroon players showed a slightly better side – they improved their block, but still committed a lot of mistakes. Throughout the meeting, African team made 25 of them. The Russians gave them only 8 points. Interestingly, Cameroon’s team made more point blocks (4). Both teams got similar amount of points in the attack. Cameroon – 39, Russia – 40 The biggest difference was service (Russian’s seven aces, their rivals two) and, of course, opponent errors.  “We played a good match but I hope we can play better in our next game” – that’s what capitain of Russia said.
After the game, Daniele Bagnoli praised the libero of Cameroon, Alain Fossi Kamto. “We really didn’t expect that kind of game” – he said.

Australia – Puerto Rico 1:3 (22:25, 22:25, 28:26, 19:25)

Portorico was playing better volley. Quality of attack decided their victory. However, it was a game with a lot of mistakes. Igor Yudin did not have a good day. Australian players did fantastic job in block (15 points in this element), but it wasn’t enough. Only third set made spectators nervous. Australia started to lead and Puerto Rico could not catch them and match didn’t finish in 3 parts. Later, Australian players were not able to keep this quality of the game and they lost 4th set.
