September 8 Update: David Angle, the brother of Kurt Angle, has been sentenced to two-and-a-half to 10 years in prison for killing his wife in 2015.

Sentencing was bumped up from Sept. 20 after Angle pled guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter in June.

David and his wife, Donna, engaged in a late-night argument involving alcohol that turned into David asphyxiating his wife.

June 21 Report

David Angle, the brother of Kurt Angle, pled guilty to killing his wife, Donna Angle, at their home in 2015.

David appeared in Pittsburgh court on Tuesday to enter a guilty plea. As part of the plea, David will be charged with voluntary manslaughter, a step down from the initial charge of homicide.

David will be sentenced on September 20, where he faces 2-10 years in prison for the murder, which his defense attorney described as “a product of alcohol.”

“There was a domestic fight where she started smacking him and he stopped her from doing that. His knees were on her chest and basically she suffocated. And he was intoxicated as well and it was almost accidental,” defense attorney Bill Diffenderfer told WTAE “Action News 4” in Pittsburgh. The Associated Press also picked up the story.

Kurt Angle was not at the court proceedings on Tuesday, reports WTAE.

Angle was in the court room in November when David initially addressed the court on the charges of murdering his wife.

In November, Angle was seen wiping away tears as David waived his right to a preliminary hearing before returning to jail seven months before this week’s trial.
