NCAA Division II First Day Results – SCSU
The first day of matches at the 2017 NCAA Division II wrestling championships at the Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. is completed. St. Cloud State, the two-time defending NCAA DII champs, ranks fifth in the team standings with 28.5 points, while Notre Dame (Ohio) owns the team lead with 56.0 points.
Brett Velasquez charted two wins for the Huskies today at 125-pounds and has advanced to a spot in the bracket semifinals on Saturday, March 11. He was the lone Husky to advance in the winner’s bracket.
The other SCSU wrestlers who will be competing on March 11 in include James Pleski in the consolation bracket at 149-pounds, Larry Bomstad in the consolation bracket at 157-pounds and Austin Goergen in the consolation bracket at 285-pounds.
