Strowman Update, LAX Visiting EVOLVE, Brand Split Staying in 2019
As reported earlier this week, it appears as if Braun Strowman’s elbow injury is legitimate and will keep him out of action for at least a couple of weeks. He was attacked on Raw this past Monday as a way to write him off of the show for the time being. According to an update from PWInsider, “The Monster Among Men” is now set to undergo elbow surgery in Birmingham, Alabama this Monday. He is still set to face Baron Corbin at the TLC pay-per-view next month, but the company seems convinced that they’ll be able to work around the injury and still have Strowman compete during the show. WWE officials reportedly consider Strowman’s injury to be very minor and one that will not be keeping him away for too long.
The amount of star power in EVOLVE Wrestling has been on the rise over the past few weeks. Not only has the current roster proven to be loaded with talent, but the promotion’s working relationship with WWE has allowed for numerous NXT Superstars to compete on some EVOLVE shows as well. Just recently, The Street Profits and Fabian Aichner were able to win championship gold despite being under contract to NXT. It now looks like two Impact Wrestling sensations are on their way to the promotion. Ortiz and Santana of LAX will be competing on EVOLVE 117 and on EVOLVE 118. They’ve even begun teasing that they may take on the Street Profits during those shows. EVOLVE 117 takes place on December 15th and EVOLVE 118 occurs the following day.

WWE announced that the company had landed a major multi-year television deal with Fox earlier this year that is said to be worth billions of dollars. The SmackDown show will be moving to Fox in October of 2019 while Raw remains on the USA Network. Although some reports have claimed that the brand split may be coming to an end once SmackDown moves to Fox next year, that does not appear to be the case after all. In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was noted that Fox does not want to feature talent who also appear on networks owned by NBC Universal. The rosters in WWE are still expected to remain separate next year, but there are also no plans to bring back brand-exclusive pay-per-views.
