USA Today/NWCA Division I Coaches Poll
Iowa remains No. 1 after weekend win over Minnesota, unbeaten Missouri moves to No. 2
Manheim, Pennsylvania — Iowa remained the unanimous No. 1 after its 23-12 win over host Minnesota on Friday in front of 13,603 fans at Williams Arena. The Hawkeyes garnered all 12 first-place votes for the fourth week in a row as the USA Today/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll was released on Tuesday.
The Hawkeyes (11-0) will head east on Friday for a conference dual at Maryland and then a Sunday matchup at No. 5 Penn State (10-2). The Hawkeyes will undoubtedly be facing its two largest non-home crowds of the year on back-to-back weekends as the event will be held at the Bryce Jordan Center, the site where Penn State set the NCAA wrestling single-dual attendance record of 15,966 last year against Pittsburgh.
Missouri moved to No. 2, the highest ranking for the program since it was No. 1 during the 2006-07 season. The Tigers are 18-0 this season and lead Division I in dual meet victories. Minnesota (10-1) slid one spot to No. 3.
The only new entrant into the Top 25 this week was North Dakota State. The Bison (7-3) have won six straight duals including a 22-21 criteria victory against then No. 18 Wyoming in Laramie on Sunday. The Bison started the year ranked in the Top 25.
