Judge denies request to drop charges against Jimmy Snuka

Jimmy Snuka’s ongoing legal battles took a turn on Tuesday morning when Judge Kelly Banach denied a request to drop the homicide charges that had been leveled against the former wrestling star.

Snuka was shockingly charged last September in the 1983 death of girlfriend Nancy Argentino.

Rumors of his potential involvement in her death were one of wrestling’s openly speculated about secrets, but Snuka had enjoyed a lengthy career despite the rumors and made appearances for various wrestling companies until soon before the charges were filed.

Judge Banach ruled last month that Snuka was not mentally competent enough to stand trial. The charges against Snuka were then put into a holding pattern until they were either dropped or he could stand trial.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Charles Gallagher and Snuka’s defense requested that the charges be dropped, but Judge Banach ruled today that she would would not drop the charges now and instead would revisit the case later this year.

Gallagher has previously filed motions to have Snuka committed to a mental hospital and to have him sent to an outpatient facility for 60 days to see what affect that would have on his condition, but those were also not approved by Judge Banach.

Snuka’s case and his health condition have been constantly in the news since he was charged in 2015, over 30 years after the death Argentino. Just last month, Snuka joined a lawsuit against WWE alleging that the promotion was negligent in their handling of head injuries suffered by former performers.
