SPOILERS For First Round of the Mae Young Classic Tournament
The second annual Mae Young Classic women’s tournament is now officially underway. After WWE streamed the “Parade of Champions” online last night, the company began taping the first few episodes of the show in Full Sail University in Orlando, Florida. All 32 women involved in this year’s show had the chance to shine and show what they were made of, but by the end of the night, only half of those competitors remained in the tournament. The entire first round of the tournament has been taped and will begin airing weekly on the WWE Network starting on September 5th, but for fans who are interested in seeing the results now, below is a complete list of SPOILERS from night one of the Mae Young Classic tapings:
Before the tournament began, there was a dark match that saw Britt Baker defeat Tesha Price
– Tegan Nox defeated Zatara
– Rhea Ripley returned and defeated MJ Jenkins
– Lacey Lane moved onto the second round by defeating Vanessa Kraven
– Meiko Satomura was able to beat Killer Kelly
– Deonna Purrazzo defeated Priscilla Kelly
– Zeuxis moves on in the tournament after knocking off Aerial Monroe
– Kacy Catanzaro was able to take down Reina Gonzalez in the first round
– Mercedes Martinez returned to defeat Ashley Rayne
– Kaitlyn’s first WWE match in four years saw her get a win over Kavita Devi
– Toni Storm returned and defeated Jinny
– Xia Li defeated Karen Q
– Mia Yim was able to beat former Impact Wrestling performer Allysin Kay
– Hiroyo Matsumoto defeated Rachel Evers
– Taynara Conti returned and received a quick win over WWE Performance Center recruit Jessie Elaban
– Nicole Matthews defeated Isla Dawn
– Io Shirai defeated Xia Brookside
The second round, quarterfinals, and semi-finals of the tournament will be taped in Full Sail later tonight. The two finalists will go on to compete in the final match of the tournament at WWE’s Evolution pay-per-view this October. WWE has also announced that the Bracketology special for this year’s tournament will be added to the WWE Network on August 29th.
