Updated Card for NXT Takeover: Chicago – 3 New Matches Confirmed

WWE typically goes all out for their five biggest pay-per-views of the year, and while plenty of fans still look forward to watching the Royal Rumble, WrestleMania, Money in the Bank, SummerSlam, and Survivor Series every year, the NXT Takeover events that take place on the nights before each of those shows have truly become a fantastic bonus show for fans. The next Takeover event will see the NXT brand return to Chicago, Illinois in June. A tag team match featuring Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch facing Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong for the NXT Tag Team Championships had already been made official, but a few more matches were confirmed during NXT last night.
Although it was certainly satisfying to see Johnny Gargano make Tommaso Ciampa submit at NXT Takeover: New Orleans back in April, it has become apparent that the rivalry between the two former NXT Tag Team Champions has only just begun. Although both men were banned from appearing on NXT this week, Johnny Gargano invaded Full Sail University during NXT last night and confirmed that General Manager William Regal has agreed to have Ciampa and Gargano face each other once again during the show in a street fight. The match will be taking place just slightly over one year after Tommaso Ciampa turned on Johnny Gargano during the last NXT Takeover show in Chicago, Illinois.

Will the score finally be settled in Chicago?

Two other intriguing matches were made official during last night’s NXT broadcast on the WWE Network. It was confirmed that newcomer Lars Sullivan will compete in the biggest match of his WWE career when he takes on Aleister Black for the NXT Championship. One other match that could potentially steal the show was also determined when The Velveteen Dream announced that he would be facing Ricochet at NXT Takeover: Chicago. Ricochet and The Velveteen Dream have been feuding on NXT for a while now, but they have never had a proper match to settle their differences on NXT yet. Fans can look forward to all of those matches and more when NXT Takeover: Chicago arrives on June 16th.

Will THIS be the outcome of #NXTChampion @WWEAleister‘s title defense against @LarsSWWE at #NXTTakeOver: Chicago?! #WWENXT pic.twitter.com/wssRdLkxGx
