Alberto El Patron No Longer GFW Champ, SummerSlam 2018 Announced

Alberto El Patron and Paige have managed to become the most controversial couple in all of wrestling right now. Whether it’s the drunken rants on Periscope, questionable photos of the couple, a series of fighting and stabbing incidents, or some of the posts that they have made on social media, a ton of divided opinions on the engaged pairing have been made. The incident that caused more issues than anything else though was when Alberto El Patron was put under investigation for domestic violence after an issue involving himself and Paige at an airport in Orlando. Patron was eventually cleared of all wrongdoings by the Orlando police, but now Paige could still be charged with battery.
During all of this, Global Force Wrestling decided to suspend Patron from their upcoming TV tapings and live events. Even though the investigation ruled out Patron several weeks ago, he is still suspended by the company. Patron recently mentioned on the Busted Open Radio show that he was working out a deal with GFW to return and rumors of him appearing on the Destination X show began to swirl. GFW announced today that they have actually decided to strip Alberto of the GFW World Championship. Alberto defeated Lashley at Slammiversary earlier this summer to win the title. The company issued a statement confirming the reports earlier today. Patron still remains suspended by the promotion.
The following statement was put on the Impact Wrestling website:

“GFW has concluded its internal consideration of the events surrounding the suspension of Alberto El Patron. While it is apparent that initial reports unfairly characterized El Patron’s involvement in the incident in the Orlando airport, we are nonetheless disappointed with the manor in which he dealt with this situation; we expect more decorum from all on the GFW roster, especially the World Champion.
We have communicated with El Patron our decision to strip him of his championship title. No decision has been taken as to the date on which he will be reinstated to the roster, the conditions of which are a private matter between the company and El Patron.”
