Xavier Woods Update, Cena’s New Role, Jericho on the Styles Clash

It was reported recently that New Day member Xavier Woods suffered an injury at a live event in Texarkana. It was later reported by PWInsider that Woods was backstage at last night’s Smackdown show to undergo a medical analysis for the potential injury. On a recent live stream on his UpUpDownDown YouTube channel, he revealed to Becky Lynch and Renee Young that he has an MCL sprain, which he believes could keep him out of action for 3-12 weeks. Becky Lynch revealed that she once had the same injury and that Woods should be good to go again in about a month. Woods noted that his injury “didn’t even look cool.”
John Cena is rumored to be leaving WWE once again very soon in order to begin shooting the Transformers spinoff movie Bumblebee. Despite this, Cena already has another new project lined up for him. WWE announced that Cena will be joining Kat Dennings to voice the leading characters in a new series entitled Dallas & Robo. The new show “centers around sassy space-trucker ‘Dallas’ (Kat Dennings) and self-proclaimed warrior-poet ‘Robo’ (John Cena) who have to navigate their way around cannibal bikers, rival space truckers, and vending machine burritos as they try to make a buck in the seedy world of interplanetary big rigging.” The show comes from the producers of Robot Chicken, and Cena is also going to be an executive producer for the series. The show premieres exclusively on YouTube Red in 2018.
When AJ Styles signed with WWE in 2016, one of the biggest questions surrounding his arrival was whether or not the company would allow him to do his Styles Clash finishing maneuver. Some wrestlers have been injured by the move in the past, and some fans perceive the finishing move as dangerous. Chris Jericho appeared for an interview recently on 107.7 The Bone, and he revealed that he helped convince WWE to keep the move. He took the move at some shows and never mentioned the name to Vince McMahon, knowing that he would likely ban the move if he knew the name. When questioned about kicking out of the move, Jericho would ask McMahon, “You know that move where he picks me up and dumps me on my face?” until Vince responded, “He should use that as a finish!” The elaborate plan worked as AJ uses the Styles Clash in WWE to this day.
