Triple brand battle royal set for next week's WWE SmackDown

A triple brand battle royal will decide Bayley’s next challenger.

During a video conference with Bayley and Sasha Banks on SmackDown tonight, Stephanie McMahon announced that there will be a battle royal on SmackDown next Friday to determine who will challenge for Bayley’s SmackDown Women’s Championship at SummerSlam. The battle royal will feature wrestlers from Raw, SmackDown, and NXT.

The video conference featured Stephanie addressing Bayley and Banks exploiting a loophole when they got Asuka counted out to lose the Raw Women’s Championship to Banks. But Stephanie said she wasn’t going to lecture or punish Bayley and Banks, she’s going to challenge them. Stephanie mentioned the enemies Bayley has been making across Raw, SmackDown, and NXT and said they will all be getting the chance for retribution when they take part in next week’s triple brand battle royal.

Bayley has now reached 300 days as SmackDown Women’s Champion. She won the title from Charlotte Flair in October 2019.

Bayley is facing Asuka on this coming Monday’s episode of Raw. If Asuka wins, she’ll challenge for Banks’ Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam.

SummerSlam is taking place on Sunday, August 23.
