Journalist Covering Elsipogtog Fracking Resistance Arrested

A journalist who has been covering the ongoing resistance to fracking led by Elsipogtog and allies in New Brunswick was arrested on Tuesday.

This marks the third arrest of Media Co-op journalist Miles Howe while covering the protests, and in a media release the solidarity cooperative writes that “It appears he was specifically targeted.”

As his Twitter feed shows, Howe was documenting “thumpers”—trucks owned by gas and oil exploration company SWN Resources that conduct seismic testing for gas deposits—and “protectors,” those expressing their resistance to the seismic testing.
