Two title matches announced for next week's WWE NXT

Two title matches will be taking place on next week’s episode of NXT.

During tonight’s NXT, it was announced that North American Champion Johnny Gargano and NXT Tag Team Champions Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch will both be making their first title defenses next Wednesday. Gargano will be facing an opponent who has yet to be revealed. Lorcan & Burch are defending their titles against former champions Breezango.

A segment aired on NXT tonight where Gargano said having short title reigns and losing his first title defenses are the only blemishes on his legacy. Gargano said he’ll kill that curse next week by defending the North American title against “a worthy opponent.”

Gargano won the North American Championship by defeating Damian Priest in a Devil’s Playground match at Halloween Havoc last week. Gargano won the title by getting help from an unidentified person wearing a Scream costume. In tonight’s segment, Gargano played board games at home with the person in the Scream costume.

The person in the Scream costume also unsuccessfully tried to help Candice LeRae defeat Io Shirai at Halloween Havoc. LeRae and Gargano recently became aligned with Indi Hartwell.

Pat McAfee returned to NXT two weeks ago and helped Lorcan & Burch win the NXT Tag Team titles from Breezango. McAfee, Lorcan, Burch, and Pete Dunne are now a four-person group and feuding with Undisputed Era.

Raquel Gonzalez vs. Xia Li is also set for next week’s NXT. William Regal agreed to give Li the match after she asked for it tonight.
