On this week’s episode of SmackDown LIVE, the main event for the first blue brand-exclusive pay-per-view event of 2017 was revealed.
SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon delivered his advertised “huge announcement” to kick off Tuesday night’s show as promised, and the announcement pertained to the upcoming WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.
The son of the WWE Chairman announced that the WWE Championship would be defended in the actual Elimination Chamber match itself, as current title-holder AJ Styles will be defending the gold inside the dangerous cage-style match on the pay-per-view, unless, of course, John Cena beats him in their upcoming title showdown at this month’s joint-brand WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view.
WWE Elimination Chamber takes place on Sunday, February 12th from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona, airing live via pay-per-view and the WWE Network.
