The Miz suffers ACL tear at WWE WrestleMania Backlash
Before he was eaten by zombies at WWE WrestleMania Backlash, The Miz suffered a left ACL tear as reported by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
Meltzer said the severity of the tear is still unknown at this time with a full tear likely keeping the 40-year-old out for up to nine months.
He got the injury in his lumberjack match with Damien Priest Sunday as Priest landed on Miz’s legs after a spinning kick off the top rope. Miz was still able to work the remainder of the match, but was selling his knee repeatedly. He eventually lost to Priest and was then “eaten” by actors playing zombies as a cross-promotion for a Netflix movie.
On Monday’s Raw, Miz’s partner John Morrison dedicated his match to Miz’s memory and subsequently lost to Priest in another lumberjack match.
Conversely, Meltzer said he is unsure if Braun Strowman’s rib injury suffered in the three-way WWE title match involving Bobby Lashley and Drew McIntyre Sunday is a storyline injury or not. Strowman was not on Monday’s Raw as Lashley’s manager MVP played it up as if Strowman was too injured to appear.
