Shayna Baszler vs. Io Shirai for the NXT Women’s Title Announced for Takeover: XXV

Shayna Baszler will defend the NXT Women’s Championship against Io Shirai. The title match will happen at Takeover: XXV on Saturday, June 1 live from Bridgeport, Connecticut.

This match is a long time coming for many WWE fans, who have been waiting for Shirai to step up and become the face of NXT’s women’s division. Io has been on her own since Kairi Sane joined SmackDown Live‘s main roster, which means The Four Horsewomen now has the upper hand.

Indeed, it’s been nothing short of a war between Baszler and the rest of the women in NXT. She continues to use her friends to protect her title, though Shayna is undoubtedly the star of the group.

But as good as she is in her current home, it’s only a matter of time until she joins the main roster. So if Io wins at Takeover: XXV, then it could very well be that Shayna will be added to either Monday Night Raw or SmackDown Live soon after.
