Jim Ross Reveals Machine Gun Armed Men Lead Him to WWE GRR Announce Table, Talks Prayer Breaks, Show Experience

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross recently spoke about his experience in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on the latest edition of his “Ross Report” podcast which can be listened to in full at this link.

During the show, Ross revealed he and the other WWE Greatest Royal Rumble announcers, which included Booker T, Jerry Lawler and Byron Saxton, were first taken through metal detectors upon entry into the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium en route to the broadcast position.

Ross then said he was escorted by men with machine guns to the actual broadcast table, an experience JR described as “interesting”.

Ross then went on to discuss the “halftime” show the announce team did and said it was done because of the prayer break which was mandated during the event. Ross noted people in Saudi Arabia pray 5 times a day, and one of the prayer times fell during the Greatest Royal Rumble broadcast, so the announce team “did our little thing at halftime so to speak” as a way to continue the show during prayer.
