Official | Lorient sign Bamba Dieng from Marseille

Lorient have announced the signing of Senegal international striker Bamba Dieng from Marseille, for a fee which L’Équipe have reported to be set at aroud €7m, a figure which can potentially rise to €10m when add-ons are included.

The forward was originally set to be part of a swap deal that would see Terem Moffi go the other way, but the Nigerian’s desire to join Nice appears to have scuppered the possibility of that deal taking place.

The 22-year-old, whose knee issues flared up during his medical but have not stopped the transfer going through, leaves Marseille after two and a half years at the club, having scored ten goals in all competitions during his time there. The AFCON winner notably scored 7 goals during last season’s Ligue 1 campaign following an impressive start to the season, but was since considered surplus to requirements, having been the subject of transfer interest last summer as well before failing his medical with Nice.
