Real Madrid’s Aurélien Tchouaméni to return to Monaco

AS Monaco have announced that former midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni (22) will return to the Principality club this weekend to kick off the tie against Marseille.

The Real Madrid and France midfielder won’t feature again for his club side before the World Cup. Before joining up with Didier Deschamps and the rest of the France squad, he will first make a trip back to Monaco. As well as watching the match from the stands, Tchouaméni will also start the match with a ceremonial kick-off before the real action gets underway.

After two glittering seasons at the Stade Louis II, Tchouaméni left the Principality club over the summer to join the reigning European champions. The Frenchman has quickly nailed down a starting spot in Carlo Ancelotti’s side following his reported €100m transfer.

Prior to his transfer, Tchouaméni had broken into Deschamps’ France squad, but he has since consolidated his spot in the starting 11, and bar injury, he is almost certain to start for France in their first World Cup game against Australia on November 22nd. He could partner former Monaco teammate Youssouf Fofana, who remains at the Ligue 1 club.
