Montpellier sack manager Olivier Dall’Oglio

L’Équipe report this afternoon that Montpellier have sacked manager Olivier Dall’Oglio, following Saturday’s defeat to Lens, with the club currently sitting in 11th place in Ligue 1 with four wins in eleven matches.

The 58-year-old was appointed in June of 2021 and undersaw a 13th-place finish last season, having previously spent time at Brest and a six-campaign spell at Dijon between 2012 and 2018.

The Hérault club had lost their last three games, with the last win coming against Strasbourg a month ago before a heavy defeat to Toulouse and a home loss to Monaco saw the team take a dive in form.

Dall’Oglio’s position is said to have been already weakened since the summer, with the team losing all of their friendly matches in pre-season. A difficult calendar year and a mixed transfer window has meant the team were always one Téji Savanier counter-performance away from losing shape, which was the case on Saturday. His assistant Romain Pitau will take the reins, at least until the World Cup.
