Kylian Mbappé becomes world’s highest-paid footballer, beating Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo

Kylian Mbappé put pen to a contract renewal at Paris Saint-Germain after rejecting a move to Real Madrid in the last summer transfer window.

According to the American economic magazine Forbes, Kylian Mbappé will become the highest-paid footballer in the world by the end of the 2022/23 season with an estimated earning of $128 million (excluding taxes and agents’ commissions).

The report suggests that the 23-year-old forward has ended an eight-year dominance that has often seen either Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo top the list of highest-paid footballers in the world.

It is understood that the Frenchman will earn $110 million in salaries and $18 million from sponsorship deals outside his domain.

The top five on the list include Lionel Messi ($120m), Cristiano Ronaldo ($100m), Neymar ($87m), and Mohamed Salah ($53m), respectively. Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has made the top 10 and sits in the sixth position, while the report shows that former Spain international Andrés Iniesta will earn $30 million, a million more than 10th-placed Kevin De Bruyne on the respective list.
