Cath Kidston seeks new investor

Cath Kidston, the nostalgic clothes and homeware designer, is seeking a new majority owner for her eponymous company which is thought to be worth up to £75m.

The company wants to raise fresh investment to back a roll out of stores in the Far East.Kidston, who launched her company in 1993, is seeking to open up to 50 shops in Japan along with further outlets in China, Hong Kong and South Korea.She said her company is looking for fresh capital to build on the seven stores it has already opened in Japan, as well as double the number of UK outlets to 60 in three years.

The retailer has bucked a downward trend in retail with half-year earnings before interest and tax almost doubling to £4.5m on sales up 69pc to £22m.
