Marseille midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi attracting interest from Premier League
Marseille midfielder Mattéo Guendouzi (23) is being targeted by an unnamed Premier League club, report L’Equipe. The French international is no stranger to the English top-flight. The Poissy-born player joined Arsenal from FC Lorient in 2018 before being loaned to Hertha Berlin in 2020 and to Marseille in 2021. OM purchased him last year for an €11m fee and tied him down to a contract which runs until 2025.
Guendouzi quickly became one of the Vélodrome faithful’s favourites and established himself as one of the best Ligue 1 midfielders. He was called up by Didier Deschamps for the World Cup, during which L’Équipe report that initial contact between Guendouzi and the unnamed Premier League club started. In Qatar, the seven-cap international played only once, during France’s dead rubber against Tunisia. L’Equipe believe the midfielder holds a concrete offer and is considering his options.

According to L’Equipe, OM executives believe that the unnamed Premier League club is Aston Villa, a link that would see the midfielder reunite with Unai Emery. The Spaniard coached Guendouzi during his first season at Arsenal and still holds him in high esteem. L’Équipe claim that Guendouzi has a strictly professional relationship Croatian OM manager Igor Tudor.
