Govt Is On Renaming Spree, Approved 25 Name Changes In Last One Year
The central government seems to be on a renaming spree as it has given consent to the renaming of at least 25 towns and villages across India in the last one year, the Press Trust of India reported.
The most recent being Faizabad which is now known as Ayodhya. Allahabad has been renamed as Prayagraj. While a proposal for renaming West Bengal as Bangla is still pending with the officials. Multiple central ministries and departments are required for this process and hence, it is a lengthy process.

A senior ministry official told PTI, the proposals to change the names of Allahabad to Prayagraj and Faizabad to Ayodhya are yet to be received by the ministry from the Uttar Pradesh government.
