News on WWE Wanting To Use MMC To Tie Into Storylines

According to Dave Meltzer in a recent edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the plan for The Mixed Match Challenge appears to be to build towards a Miz/Asuka vs. Roode/Charlotte finals, with Asuka’s team getting the win to maintain her undefeated streak. This would also tie into the upcoming Asuka vs. Charlotte Smackdown Women’s Title Showdown at WrestleMania by helping further the storyline since there isn’t a lot of opportunity to have them engage with one another on opposing brands.
Meltzer also indicated that with Sasha Banks and Finn Balor winning the second chance vote, it gives WWE the opportunity to change this original idea since Balor and Miz are two of the three participants in the WrestleMania Intercontinental Title Match and their story could also be furthered in the finals.
