Heritage Cup match, KLR address announced for next week's NXT UK
NXT UK’s Heritage Cup tournament will continue with Flash Morgan Webster and A-Kid facing off next week.
WWE has announced that Webster vs. A-Kid in a Heritage Cup tournament first round match will take place on next Thursday’s episode of NXT UK. The winner will advance to face Noam Dar in the second round.
The Heritage Cup tournament kicked off with Dar defeating Alexander Wolfe on this week’s NXT UK. Pete Dunne was the special guest referee for the match. Wolfe and WALTER beat down Dunne in a post-match angle until Ilja Dragunov made the save.
Dave Mastiff vs. Joseph Conners and Trent Seven vs. Kenny Williams are the other Heritage Cup first round matches. Williams was confirmed as the final entrant for the tournament by defeating Ashton Smith and Amir Jordan in a triple threat match on NXT UK this week.
The rules for Heritage Cup matches are:
There will be six rounds for Heritage Cup matches. Each round will be three minutes.
There will be 20-second breaks between each round.
All matches are two-out-of-three falls.
Falls can be won by pinfall, submission, or countout.
Once a fall occurs, the round ends.
Once someone has won two falls, they are declared the winner and they advance in the tournament.
If there’s a disqualification or knockout, the match ends without the need for two falls.
If a match goes the full six rounds, whoever is ahead on falls wins.
The Heritage Cup will be defended as a championship under the same rules following the tournament.
Next Thursday’s NXT UK will also feature a State of the Union address from NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray. KLR retained her title against Piper Niven in last week’s main event. The match included KLR fighting through a storyline knee injury after a spot where Niven moved out of the way of a knee strike and KLR’s knee hit the steel steps.
