Cruiserweight title match set for next week's WWE NXT

Curt Stallion is finally getting his shot at the NXT Cruiserweight Championship.

WWE has announced that NXT Cruiserweight Champion Santos Escobar will defend his title against Stallion on NXT next Wednesday. Stallion has been in line for a Cruiserweight title shot since winning a number one contender’s fatal five-way match on 205 Live in November.

Escobar defended his Cruiserweight title on NXT New Year’s Evil two weeks ago, retaining against Gran Metalik.

Escobar cut an in-ring promo on NXT tonight where he said Metalik & Lince Dorado tried to destroy his empire, but he sent them packing. Escobar said Raul Mendoza & Joaquin Wilde will win the men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and go on to defeat Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch for the NXT Tag Team titles. Metalik & Dorado then ran out and brawled with Mendoza & Wilde. Legado Del Fantasma had the numbers advantage, but Stallion got involved and helped fight off Escobar, Mendoza & Wilde.

Legado Del Fantasma interrupted an interview with Stallion, Metalik & Dorado later on tonight’s show. Escobar said he’ll embarrass Stallion in a title match next week and expose him for the rookie he is.

Metalik & Dorado are facing Mendoza & Wilde in the Dusty Classic quarterfinals.
