Islam Slimani future clouded by intermediary mania

AS Monaco striker Islam Slimani is another individual who will have negotiations tomorrow to potentially leave his club on deadline day.

He is currently on a season-long loan with ASM, but wants to cancel it 6 months early as he has lost his place in the starting XI following the departure of Leonardo Jardim – he feels that Monaco in general have been ungrateful when taking into account his awesome contributions in Ligue 1 in the first half of the campaign.

Our reliable colleague Romain Molina reports that the Algerian international’s efforts to leave are being hindered by the amount of intermediaries, either legitimately or not, pretending to have authority to make a deal happen. The player is represented by Romelu Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello, but a number of other individuals are trying to get a slice of the action. This is causing havoc for the player, as certain clubs in recent hours have partially or entirely given up on signing him quite simply because they are having to deal with too many agents at once.

Sky Italia reported in the afternoon that Inter Milan had joined Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in talks to try to sign the player.

The other obstacle that is not being discussed is the fact that Slimani is owned by Leicester City, who do not seem particularly inclined to loan the player to a Premier League rival in the race for the top 4, which realistically is exactly what Tottenham and the Red Devils are to Brendan Rodgers’ side this season.

ASM want a €2.5m fee to cancel the Slimani loan early, which is another obstacle for interested parties to overcome.

The player however remains resolute in his desire to leave in the coming hours and would prefer to move to the Premier League.
